Technology Specialism
As a Technology Specialist College, Kemnal strives to ensure that students are kept up to date with the latest developments in the teaching of technology and ICT. Teachers are encouraged to use interactive technology both in the teaching of their lessons and students activity. Interactive whiteboards are present in all classrooms and students have access to computers in many classes including BTEC science lessons, all ICT lessons, some Mathematics lessons and Music lessons . We have a professional music suite with recording and editing facilities and computers available for student use in the library and at homework club.
Our fantastic website uses Twitter to inform parents about recent developments around the college and all homework is set and monitored on line. Parents are able to use our technology to track their son’s attendance and progress at college and have access to a range of information and support in order to help their sons to achieve.
Staff are provided with regular inset about how to use ICT to deliver their lessons and ensure that students are engaged and motivated.
All students follow a GCSE in Technology and now have the opportunity to take a GCSE in either Food Technology, Product Design or Resistant Materials. We also run College STEM days where students have the opportunity to undertake an activity combining Maths Engineering and Science skills.
We are very proud to be in receipt of the Archwright fellowship for one of our outstanding students and hope that this is an area that we can pursue further in the future.
